The Collection

The Algae Collection at the Botanische Staatssammlung München (M) comprises approx. 150,000 specimens.

Subdivisions in groups following historical lines: Cyanophyta, Flagellatae, Charophyta, Chlorophyta, Chrysophyta, Phaeophyta, Rhodophyta.

Within the groups, the genera and subgeneric taxa are arranged alphabetically. Types and exsiccatae are included. We estimate that there are more than 3,000 type specimens.
