Botanische Staatssammlung München – 200th Anniversary

In 1813, Maximilian I Joseph von Bayern, King of Bavaria, founded the Botanische Staatssammlung München as an institution to preserve and curate the Royal herbarium. Famous botanists like Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius determined its early history and wordwide importance. For further information see Hertel & Schreiber (1988) and:
